Simple Slippers Pattern

I love slippers and I love nautical colors and themes for summer time. (I also love summer!) I wanted a simple slipper that I could slip on (say that five times fast) in the mornings to wear out on to my deck where I have my first cup of coffee.

I live in Western Idaho on a high desert which means cool summer mornings and blazing hot afternoons. It’s great fun! But that also means I can’t be wearing big ole’ heavy winter slippers around either. My feet will get too hot too fast. I don’t normally wear slippers past 8 AM any way, but you just never know.

I chose to use nautical or “patriotic” colors for my slippers. You could easily make these in all kinds of color combinations such as national flags, favorite sports teams, school mascots, seasonal or holiday themes just to get your creative juices flowing. (Perfect timing for all you soccer fans and World Cup watchers out there!)

I alternated between two or three rows of each color to create my striping effect but you could also break the slipper into thirds to achieve a color block effect or simple crochet a pair in a solid color. Your choice! (Shout out to my mother-in-law for modeling these simple crocheted slippers!)

Optional Embellishment:

I used Petals to Picots free Crochet Anchor Pattern to embellish the tops of my slippers since I was going for a nautical theme. I think the anchor is so adorable and sets off the slippers nicely. If you are using other colors or combinations and depending on the season, add flowers, buttons, ribbons and all sorts of accents to give your slippers personality and pizazz!

Enjoy your cozy new slippers!

Shamrock Barefoot Sandals

Hey Rockers!

I am loving the sunshine and breeze right out my front door. It makes me want spring to be just get here already! That's probably what inspired me to come up with this new barefoot sandals pattern featuring a lucky little Shamrock - that and the fact that my bestie wore sandals to dinner the other night.

I was like "oh no, you didn't!" And she was like "oh yes I did!" She's totally a summer girl. Anyway, on to the pattern. If it's too cold to enjoy these for St. Patrick's Day, save them for summer or...wear them on your hands as funky, whimsical bracelet-ring things.

Add this pattern to your Ravelry Queue.

Skill Level: Easy to Intermediate

Materials:
Worsted yarn
US Hook size I/5.50mm
Tapestry needle

Gauge: not needed

Key:
CH = chain
DC = double crochet
TRC = triple crochet
SL ST = slip stitch
MR = Magic Ring (tutorial here)

Instructions: (Make two.)

Start with a Magic Ring.
In your MR, [ch 3, trc, dc, trc, ch 3, sl st to MR] repeat 3 times. Ch 15, sl st to MR. Pull MR snug. You should have 4 clover leaves and one toe loop. Break yarn, weave ends.

If you would like to add a second shamrock (which works best for women's feet size 8 and up) crochet a second shamrock connecting it to the first one at the two leaves as in the picture, via slip stitch. Or, crochet a second shamrock separately and then connect the two using yarn and a yarn or tapestry needle to sew the two together.

Ankle Straps: Ch 50, sl st to the back of shamrock, opposite of toe loop, ch 50. Break yarn, trim ends.

If you would like the pattern for a baby or kids pair of Shamrock Barefoot Sandals you can find my version over at Craftown!

Candy Corn Love

Hiya Crochet Rockers!

Wonder what I've been up to lately? Oh you know, just getting my sugar on with some candy corn love! I really can't help it. I even tried to join CCLA (Candy Corn Lovers Anonymous). They said I was too far gone and would need medical help. Tell me something I don't know.

Kids Candy Corn Beanie
For those of you who don't know, I do have a day job. I am the content manager for a cute little company, who happens to own some cute little websites, one of which I am addicted to. It's probably a good thing I work for the site, otherwise my boss would wonder why I spend so much time there.

Baby Candy Corn Hat
One of the coolest parts of my job: my boss asked me to start creating original crochet patterns for the site back in May of this year. So when I am not managing content, I am crocheting - and they pay me to do this! Can you believe that? What a sweet gig right?

Adult Candy Corn Slippers
Anyhow, I figured you might want to know what I do when I am not lurking on Facebook or spinning on Pinterest. If you are interested in making these patterns, they are published free over at Craftown. Just click on the title below the picture to take you to the pattern.

As always, I would love your feedback and comments. Also, if you run into a pattern glitch or whoopsie, just shoot me an email via the contact me form or email me at crochetrochelle@gmail.com.

Baby & Toddler Feet Love

Because I love you already...

I have three Baby Barefoot Sandal patterns published at Craftown, (my day job!). If you liked my barefoot sandals pattern, you will LOVE these baby (or toddler) feet versions.

Baby Heart Barefoot Sandals

Baby Star Barefoot Sandals

Baby Starfish Barefoot Sandals

They are pretty much one size fits newborn up to about 3 years. I would make the ankle straps longer & maybe the toe loop longer if I made these for an elementary age kiddo. I have had so many requests for these from friends and family, I can't help but share. Enjoy the free patterns!

Foot Size Chart

Crochet Rockers,

While I was creating my hearts barefoot sandals (and a few other patterns I'll be adding soon) I scoured the internet for an easy-to-read foot size chart. Not so easy to find let me tell you! I decided to create my own version to use as a reference chart and I figured if I needed one, you might need one too!

Allow me to introduce my foot size chart - Enjoy! (Keep in mind this is based on averages. If I am able, I measure the feet of the project recipient...especially babies.) I've included a pdf version below for easier access.

Here is the PDF version.

Hearts Barefoot Sandals

Hey Rockers,

This pattern has been updated/edited to be a little easier to follow and create. I've also created a YouTube video to go along with the changes in hopes that it will also be an aide to creating the pattern.

I am sharing my first pattern of the site and I think they turned out adorable!

August is half way over, but I couldn't help creating a pair of Barefoot Sandals with Hearts!

I hope you enjoy creating your own pair as much as I enjoyed creating this simple beginner's crochet pattern. If you need any help with the pattern please send me an email via the Contact page and I'll do my best to get back to you promptly.

Hearts Barefoot Sandals

Ankle Strap: Ch 50, sl st to back of Heart #2. Ch 50 to finish second half of ankle strap. (See images below for reference.)

And now...for my first ever video tutorial to help you create this pattern. I'm having a little trouble embedding the video here in the blog post, so here is the link to access it on YouTube. I'll keep working at it to get it fixed.

Crochet Hearts Barefoot Sandals Tutorial - http://youtu.be/p95zpgZA0ng

Note: For extra length on the ankle straps increase the number of chains. For example, if you want the straps to wrap around ankle twice ch 100, instead of ch 50 as instructed above. This pattern is very adaptable. You can add hearts for different feet sizes or subtract hearts for kids' sizes.

Enjoy your pretty summer feet!
