Pikachu Inspired Hat Pattern

The Pokemon Go craze hit our house. To be truthful Pokemon cards, cartoon and characters have been hanging around my boys' rooms for ages, since my oldest could say "Pokemon" and ask for the trading cards.

With all the kerfuffle surrounding "Pokemon Go" the past few weeks, my boys both pulled the "Mom, pretty pretty please will you crochet me a Pikachu hat?" and "Please will you make a Poke Ball hat?" and "Oh and please will you make a (fill in the blank with about 50 Pokemon names) hat?"

I totally caved. And I thought you might want to make one too. I've listed the Pikachu Inspired Hat Pattern in my Etsy shop, with the Poke Ball Hat Pattern soon to follow.

If you decide to purchase the pattern I hope you enjoy crocheting your very own Pikachu Inspired Hat. If not, enjoy these goofy pictures of my boys.

Cheers!

Flower

I used the flower tutorial from Crochet Geek for the flowers pictured.

Bow

I came up with a very simple pattern to work into a bow.

Ch 8, hdc in 3rd chain from hook, hdc 5. Ch 2, turn, hdc 6 across. Repeat this pattern until your piece measures 12 inches. Form a bow and secure with a piece of yarn or a simple chain. Finish, weave ends.

Add a safety pin or jewelry pin by either sewing or hot gluing to the back of your embellishments to make them detachable. Or, sew your flower, bow or buttons directly to the hat – your preference!

*Sewing Heel Tips: Turn slipper inside out, so that when you sew up heel the seam is hidden (tucked in) when finished. Fold Slipper in half so that heel lines up with sts on each side facing each other.

At this point your slipper is all done. However, adding some embellishments make each pair unique and even prettier! I sewed crocheted hearts in a contrasting color to the top of my slippers but you could also use felt hearts or other types of heart appliques. Adding ribbons, buttons, bows and other accents dolls them up too!

The Heart Pattern I used, on the slippers pictured, is over at Planet June’s site.

You are all done! Happy Valentine’s Day!
